HDJ landscape architects specialize in a wide range of land development projects and are led by senior landscape architects licensed in both Washington and Oregon.
Areas of expertise include planting design, automatic irrigation system design, hardscape/courtyard/streetscape design, urban design, photo simulations, site plan submittals, construction drawings and specifications for both private land development and public works projects.
Types of projects include commercial developments, industrial sites, roadway right-of-ways, medians, roundabouts, parks and recreation, subdivisions and multi-family residential. In addition to meeting municipal code requirements, HDJ’s landscape designs creatively improve aesthetics and bring added value to clients and their customers.
The design goals of the Landscape Architecture Department are:
Humankind: Designs that meet the needs of people in outdoor spaces, including recreational areas, parks, courtyards, plazas, streetscapes, roadway right-of-ways and parking areas.
Nature: Designs that respect nature and work in harmony with the environment, including saving existing trees and vegetation where feasible, stabilizing the land to prevent erosion and promoting long-term low maintenance solutions. We propose native vegetation where feasible and ornamental plants where desirable.
Art: Creative hardscape and softscape designs that provide a wide range of alternatives and are aesthetically pleasing.
